Sulphur Bluff can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Avinger with a sharp 64-40 win. With Sulphur Bluff ahead 34-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Dakota Klemptner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points along with 11 rebounds and ten assists. It was the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Brody Gunn was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Union Hill came up short against the Bulldogs last Friday and fell 46-37. Union Hill has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Union Hill saw an underclassman step up: EJ Mowery scored 15 points. That was a full 40.5% of Union Hill's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Dunn, who scored nine points.
Sulphur Bluff is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season. As for Union Hill, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Sulphur Bluff was able to grind out a solid win over the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January, winning 53-42. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Dunn, who scored 25 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Sulphur Bluff still be able to contain Dunn?
