Baseball Game Preview: Badin Rams vs. Roger Bacon Spartans

Badin has gone 9-1 against Roger Bacon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Rams will host the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Badin will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Badin's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Saturday, when they got past Archbishop Hoban's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Rams were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Knights. Considering the Rams have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Holderbach looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Chandler Taylor and Kade Bowling did most of the damage at the plate: Taylor got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Bowling went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Bowling a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Wolpert, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Badin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Roger Bacon came up short against Indian Hill on Saturday, falling 12-2. The loss was the Spartans' first of the season.

Badin's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Roger Bacon, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Everything went Badin's way against Roger Bacon when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Badin made off with a 17-7 win. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
