The Oxford Chargers won the last time they faced the Southaven Chargers, and things went their way on Friday too. Oxford came out on top against Southaven by a score of 62-49.
Southaven's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rodarius Donley, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds, and Jayven Welch who scored 11 points along with six steals. Donley is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Watkins, who scored six points.
Oxford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. As for Southaven, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 12 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford will square off against Starkville at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oxford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Starkville likes a good challenge. Southaven's road trip will continue as they head out to face Madison Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 17th. Hopefully Southaven focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
