The Blacksher Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Chickasaw on the road and fell 48-21. While losing is never fun, Blacksher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while Chickasaw is ranked 198th).
Chickasaw found their leader in underclassman Sydrus Gilmore, who scored eight points along with five steals. Gilmore has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Kendall Sims was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Blacksher bumped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Chickasaw, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Clarke County the next time they take the court. Chickasaw will head out to face Clarke County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Blacksher will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
