Pender is 3-0 against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Both teams will round out the year against one another at 12:30 p.m. at. Pender is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Pender has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 25 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 70-42 win over Bancroft-Rosalie. Given Pender's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Bancroft-Rosalie is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pender's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Dolliver, who scored 18 points along with five assists. Dolliver hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Wegner, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 39-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Archbishop Bergan.
Despite the defeat, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge saw an underclassman step up: Rena Rasmussen dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The match was Rasmussen's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Pender pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.1 points. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Pender hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 60 points per game. It's a different story for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, though, as they've been averaging only 55.2 points per game. The only thing between Pender and another offensive beatdown is Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything went Pender's way against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 as Pender made off with a 64-43 victory.
