Westview posted their biggest victory since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. They really took it to Omaha South for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-42 win on the road. Given Westview's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Omaha South is ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
John Sims was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Tayvin Murphy was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Several Packers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lou Hodoly, who scored seven points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir Davis, who scored seven points.
Westview is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Omaha South, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Westview will be playing in front of their home fans against Gretna at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gretna is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Omaha South, they will take on Omaha Westside at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Omaha Westside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
