The Flint River Academy Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 37-12 walloping at the hands of St. George. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Flint River Academy in their matchups with St. George's: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Flint River Academy saw an underclassman step up: Reagan Riner scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riner has scored all season.
St. George's found their leader in underclassman Pressley Burson, who scored 13 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Burson has scored at least a third of St. George's points. Mady Pye was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Flint River Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for St. George's, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.
Flint River Academy will be playing at home against Harvester Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. George's, they will head out on the road to square off against Piedmont Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Piedmont Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
