The Joplin Eagles will take on the Webb City Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Joplin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Joplin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 49-8 win over Willard. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Joplin had a senior duo take command as Traevian McCadney rushed for 101 yards and three scores on only 12 carries and Daniel Rose threw for 159 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80% of his passes. Rose's passing game has become a key predictor of the Eagles' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Hayden Wolf did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards.
One reason for the win was Joplin's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. Judah Meredith was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Webb City took on Carthage on Friday. The Cardinals received a blow as they fell 28-14 to the Tigers. The matchup marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Joplin will have to contain Braden Strickland as he made an impact in Webb City's last game. He rushed for 78 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 85 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Strickland got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 60 yards.
Webb City's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Joplin, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Joplin has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Webb City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 242 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Joplin won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, slipping by Webb City 43-42. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
