The Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Garfield Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Port of Los Angeles barely beat Marshall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Polar Bears put the hurt on the Barristers with a sharp 11-1 victory on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Polar Bears, who have now won four matches in a row.

Alyssa Setka was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Randall, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Samantha Russell, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Port of Los Angeles kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Garfield made sure to put some runs up on the board against Marshall on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Barristers 17-1. Considering the Bulldogs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Nadia Carrillo made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Carrillo was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Madilyn Mu?oz was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Rosalie Aguilera was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.
Garfield is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Port of Los Angeles, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Port of Los Angeles hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Garfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Port of Los Angeles couldn't quite get it done against Garfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 as they fell 6-1. Can the Polar Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
