Softball Recap: Littlefield Sets Scoring Season-High Against Dimmitt

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Littlefield). They were the clear victor by a 23-2 margin over the Dimmitt Bobcats on Wednesday. The Wildcats have beaten the Bobcats the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bobcats has come to flipping the script.

Natalia Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, Bryndle Ray was incredible, firing off four triples, four runs, and two RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Brianna Aleman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Littlefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dimmitt only posted an OBP of .357.

Littlefield's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Dimmitt, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.

Coming up, Littlefield will face off against Shallowater at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shallowater knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Littlefield likes a good challenge. As for Dimmitt, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Dimmitt Bobcats challenge Slaton Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Slaton will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Dimmitt surely won't give up without a fight.
