Jacksonville is 4-0 against the Tigers since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Jacksonville Golden Eagles' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cleburne County Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on February 5th. Hopefully Jacksonville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in Alabama (the Golden Eagles are ranked 46th, while the Tigers are ranked 271st).
Jacksonville suffered their closest defeat since December 21, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of Alexandria by a score of 74-71. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from KyDric Fisher, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Jaquan Ervin was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Cleburne County escaped with a win on Tuesday against the Tigers by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The win was just what Cleburne County needed coming off of a 61-36 defeat in their prior contest.
Jacksonville's defeat dropped their record down to 23-7. As for Cleburne County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Jacksonville took their victory against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 70-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jacksonville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
