The American Heritage Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Westminster Christian Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. American Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
American Heritage had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Killian on Friday. American Heritage blew past Killian 11-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their two-run performance the match before.
Caden Garro looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jordan Rich was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in home runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Dubovik, who scored two runs and stole Two bases.
American Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Killian only posted an OBP of .111.
Meanwhile, Westminster Christian posted their closest win since May 11, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Belen Jesuit 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won three in a row.
Austin Wiegandt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Westminster Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Mejia, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
The victory was the third in a row for American Heritage, bringing their record for this year to 12-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Westminster Christian, their record now sits at 8-5-1.
American Heritage's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. American Heritage has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Westminster Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will American Heritage continue to outrun the ball? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
