It was a good run, but the Centennial Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Mount de Sales Academy an easy 53-27 win. Centennial was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.
Mackenzie Conley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mount de Sales Academy, scoring 22 points along with three steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. Shelby Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Centennial will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on River Hill on January 3, 2024. One thing working in River Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. Mount de Sales Academy and Howard will face off at 3:30 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Howard is ranked 83rd, while Mount de Sales Academy is ranked 94th).
