West is 0-10 against Tracy since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. West will square off against Tracy at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
West is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kimball.
Kayla McWhorter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, Malia Morreira was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Dunn, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Tracy entered their tilt with Freedom on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Falcons. The one-run effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Not much got past Elisa Galli, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Freedom off the board. Galli has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tracy's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Fell, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Fell is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Tracy pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for West, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tracy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
West suffered a grim 18-4 defeat to Tracy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
