The Sherman Wildcats will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Eisenhower Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eisenhower took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sherman, who comes in off a win.
On December 11th, Sherman narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Westfield 41-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sherman.
Meanwhile, Eisenhower's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Erie 64-37. While losing is never fun, Eisenhower can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Erie is ranked 115th).
Despite the defeat, Eisenhower saw an underclassman step up: Clara Steinberg scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Steinberg scored a full 40.5% of Eisenhower's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Sherman's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Eisenhower, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
