Basketball Recap: Evadale Skates Past Woodville with Ease

Evadale waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Woodville Eagles, posting an 85-35 victory. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 26 points or more this season.

Leading Evadale to victory were Warren Brewer and Talon Bennett. Brewer went 10 of 21 en route to 24 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Bennett went 9 for 14 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Brewer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Buckner, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Evadale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Evadale is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Woodville, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evadale will head out to face off against Brookeland at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brookeland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Evadale likes a good challenge. As for Woodville, they will venture away from home to square off against Central Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodville is facing Central Heights at the right time seeing as Central Heights is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
