The Hubbard Eagles can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lakeview 54-51. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hubbard also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Hubbard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braydon Songer, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Songer has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Gavin Rybicki was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Lakeview still got an impressive performance from Kyle Senkowitz, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Senkowitz is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Hayden Newton, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lakeview struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hubbard pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Hubbard's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Lakeview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hubbard will take on Academy for Urban Scholars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Academy for Urban Scholars is coming into the match with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Hubbard will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Lakeview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbiana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbiana will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Lakeview surely won't give up without a fight.
