The Kermit Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to challenge the Presidio Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Presidio will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Kermit extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Anthony. With that win, the Yellow Jackets brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Aliha Saenz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Saenz was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mary Valenzuela, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Hadley Hardaway, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Presidio). They put the hurt on Tornillo with a sharp 17-1 victory on Tuesday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Like Kermit, Presidio also got a great game from a two-way player: Kesara Olivas. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Olivas has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Allison Sigala was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Luisamaria Valenzuela was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Presidio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Kermit's record now sits at 9-13-1. As for Presidio, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-13.
Presidio's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kermit hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .388. It's a different story for Presidio, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Kermit's hitters?
Kermit got the 'W' when the teams last played two weeks ago against Presidio by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellow Jackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
