If the Miamisburg Vikings were riding high off their 56-24 takedown of the Troy Trojans last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Miamisburg took a 43-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairmont on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Miamisburg has scored all season.
Fairmont found their leader in underclassman Kaylah Thornton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Thornton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Roark, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Miamisburg dropped their record down to 7-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Fairmont, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.
Miamisburg will head out on the road to take on Bellbrook at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fairmont, they will be playing at home against St. Vincent-St. Mary at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Vincent-St. Mary presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fairmont in Ohio (St. Vincent-St. Mary is ranked second, while Fairmont is ranked 94th).
