J.H. Rose proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the New Bern Bears 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Rampants sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Parker Watson and Justin Grimes did most of the damage at the plate: Watson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Grimes scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Watson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Simmons, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
J.H. Rose pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for New Bern, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. J.H. Rose is set to square off against their familiar foe D.H. Conley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rampants 3.1, the Vikings 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, New Bern will challenge rival South Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
