The Fillmore Flashes will head out on the road to face off against the Trinity Classical Academy Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fillmore has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Trinity Classical Academy will arrive with five straight wins.
Last Thursday, Fillmore came up short against Santa Paula and fell 59-49. While losing is never fun, Fillmore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1253rd, while Santa Paula is ranked 420th).
Despite their loss, Fillmore saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Isaac Weslow, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Octavio Orozco, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Trinity Classical Academy didn't have too much trouble with The Palmdale Aerospace Academy at home on Thursday as they won 71-54.
Fillmore has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Trinity Classical Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
Fillmore came up short against Trinity Classical Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2021, falling 54-50. Can Fillmore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
