Central Davidson and Oak Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Central Davidson has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Central Davidson is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Pinecrest just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-4.
Meanwhile, while Oak Grove put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Asheboro. The Grizzlies put the hurt on the Blue Comets with a sharp 7-0 victory. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Carson Everhart made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Oak Grove is 5-1 when Everhart allows two or fewer hits, but 7-9 otherwise. Everhart was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Mason Crouse looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Graham Binkley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cam Sharpe, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Oak Grove and bumps their season record up to 12-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Central Davidson, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
Central Davidson came out on top in a nail-biter against Oak Grove in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
