The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They were outmatched by Alamosa on the road and fell 72-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Montezuma-Cortez has scored all season.
Montezuma-Cortez lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caidin Leonard, who scored 15 points. Leonard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Trey Hall was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Montezuma-Cortez has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Alamosa, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Montezuma-Cortez and Centauri will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Centauri presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Montezuma-Cortez in Colorado (Centauri is ranked 90th, while Montezuma-Cortez is ranked 209th). As for Alamosa, Alamosa and Pagosa Springs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pagosa Springs is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
