Volleyball Recap: Corvian Community Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Corvian Community had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Langtree Charter Academy Lions on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in August.

Corvian Community had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-9.

Corvian Community was led to victory by Macia Newell and Ella Sagur. Newell had 30 assists and five digs, while Sagur had 19 digs and one assist. Those 19 digs gave Sagur a new career-high. Peyton Church also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Corvian Community was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive games.

Corvian Community's record is now 5-7. As for Langtree Charter Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Corvian Community will face off against rival Community School of Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Langtree Charter Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
