Harrison County is a perfect 7-0 against Bishop Brossart since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Harrison County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Assumption, who was ranked fifth at the time (Harrison County was ranked 11th). The Thorobreds/Fillies fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. The Thorobreds/Fillies' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Shyanne Ross put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double.
Ross wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emma Hamm, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Bishop Brossart came up short against Mercy McAuley on Monday and fell 12-9.
Rachel Shewmaker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Kayleigh Stadelmann was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Bishop Brossart's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Harrison County, their loss dropped their record down to 25-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Harrison County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .508. However, it's not like Bishop Brossart struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Harrison County's way against Bishop Brossart when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Harrison County made off with a 16-1 victory.
