Tacony Academy Charter is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mariana Bracetti Academy with a sharp 21-10 win on Thursday. Considering the Lions have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaylene Cruz was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off five hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Tacony Academy Charter got a massive performance out of Siabrea Berry, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs Berry has posted since back in April of 2024. Aniya Askins-Pinkney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs.
Meanwhile, String Theory might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Philadelphia Academy Charter who claimed the real prize. String Theory fell just short of Philadelphia Academy Charter by a score of 5-4.
Like Tacony Academy Charter, String Theory also got a great game from a two-way player: Annamae Uhl. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Uhl has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Danica Divincenzo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Tacony Academy Charter pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for String Theory, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tacony Academy Charter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .642. However, it's not like String Theory struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
