Softball Recap: Heritage Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Imagine Prep Superstition

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage Academy). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Imagine Prep Superstition Panthers a 31-0 shutout on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Heroes in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Francesca Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarahi Rico, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Person, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Heritage Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .690. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Heritage Academy's record is now 13-1. As for Imagine Prep Superstition, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Academy will face off against Ridgeline Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Heroes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for Imagine Prep Superstition, they will take on Imagine Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
