The Lake Norman Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 69-59 win over North Lincoln. Given Lake Norman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while North Lincoln is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Norman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Santana Lynch, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Lynch has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Mckinnon, who scored 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why North Lincoln lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carson Engstrand. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kellen Karr, who scored 10 points along with 7 assists.
Lake Norman's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for North Lincoln, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-9 record last season and are now at 1-2.
Lake Norman will head out on the road to face off against West Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully West Rowan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for North Lincoln, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
