The Vianney Golden Griffins''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Helias, falling 42-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Vianney in their matchups with Helias: they've now lost four in a row.
Sam Deen threw for 171 yards on 15 of 38 attempts. Sam Smith was his top target, picking up 66 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Vianney's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.8 points per game. As for Helias, the victory was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Vianney will head out on the road to face off against Howell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Howell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Vianney likes a good challenge. Helias will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Washington at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Washington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Helias is ranked 12th).
