The Walnut Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Silver Valley Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Walnut got themselves on the board against Nogales, but Nogales never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 28-0 victory over the Nobles at home. The win was just what Walnut needed coming off of a 35-12 loss in their prior game.
Demetrius Stampley was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Meanwhile, Silver Valley entered their tilt with Nuview Bridge with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Silver Valley really took it to Nuview Bridge for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-6 victory at home. Considering Silver Valley has won seven matches by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Silver Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryan Mitchell led the charge by throwing for 171 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Camari Hunt, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Walnut's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Silver Valley, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
