The South Rebels will face off against the Lorain Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
South's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Geneva with a sharp 6-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rebels as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
South got a massive performance out of Summer Bliss (Lake Erie College), who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Casey Heil was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lorain came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 11 games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Charlton made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played.
In other batting news, Alonna Coleman was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alysandria Lighty, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Lorain pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for South, their win bumped their record up to 7-10-1.
