After a string of four wins, Pelion's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 52-49.
Pelion lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaden Moore, who posted ten points along with six boards and four steals. Moore is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolton Rogers, who had eight points and six rebounds.
Briston Matthews went supernova for Ridge Spring-Monetta, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Kymani Denny was another key player, putting up eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Pelion's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Pelion Panthers duke it out with the Swansea Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they will head out to face off against Williston-Elko at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
