Baseball Recap: Fort Stockton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Fort Stockton had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Monahans Loboes with a sharp 7-1 win on Friday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Gerry Diaz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fort Stockton is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-11 otherwise. Diaz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Diaz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Nunez, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Nunez has posted since back in March. Another was Gama Corral, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Fort Stockton now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Monahans, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13-1.
