Basketball Game Preview: Chicago Marshall Commandos vs. Clark Eagles

The Chicago Marshall Commandos will square off against the Clark Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Chicago Marshall beat Chicago Academy 47-38. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Commandos.

Chicago Marshall can attribute much of their success to Alysha Murphy, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds, and Janiyah Green, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. What's more, Murphy also racked up three blocks, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anabel Robinson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Chicago Marshall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 22 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clark). They blew past Schurz 60-34 on Wednesday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

Chicago Marshall is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Clark, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Chicago Marshall came out on top in a nail-biter against Clark in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, sneaking past 51-49. Will Chicago Marshall repeat their success, or does Clark have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
