The Highland Tech Rams pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Burns. Highland Tech has struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Yoel Mussie, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elijah Sherrill, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Burns got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenyon Surratt out in front who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Surratt scored 15 or more points. Jaxon Self was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Highland Tech dropped their record down to 7-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Burns, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.
Highland Tech will head out on the road to take on the Golden Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shelby knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Rams likes a good challenge. As for Burns, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Gryphons at 7:30 p.m.
