Sebastian River is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Heritage a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Sharks have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Rily Biggers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Madison Sharland was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Sebastian River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .448 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bayside earned a 5-0 win over Legacy on Tuesday.
The result came thanks to EMILY LOWE's shutout, as she gave up just five hits.
At the plate, Bayside's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was REESE MONTGOMERY, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Another was JORDYN MILO, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Bayside's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Sebastian River, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Sebastian River came out on top in a nail-biter against Bayside when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sharks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
