Durant has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Newsome Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Durant knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Newsome likes a good challenge.
Even though Jefferson scored an imposing 68 points on Wednesday, Durant still came out on top. Durant took their contest against Jefferson 78-68. Given Durant's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Jefferson is ranked 478th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Austin White , who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 4 assists. The game was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Wylde Correa , who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Newsome's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Robinson. The matchup was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but Newsome was outscored by Robinson in the second.
Durant's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Newsome, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.
Durant ended up a good deal behind Newsome when the teams last played back in December of 2022, losing 54-40. Can Durant avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
