Poteau is 9-0 against Stilwell since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Poteau Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Stilwell Indians at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Poteau has nine straight wins, Stilwell has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Poteau can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They claimed a resounding 40-7 victory over Ada at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Poteau just coasted through the last quarter.
Meanwhile, Stilwell came up short against Broken Bow on Friday and fell 33-26.
Despite their loss, Stilwell saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brayton Carter, who picked up 178 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Juan Martinez, who threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns.
Poteau's win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.18 points. As for Stilwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Poteau against Stilwell when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 49-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poteau since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
