Alhambra extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 4-1. They took down the Wilson Mules 40-21. With that win, the Moors brought their scoring average up to 28.6 points per game.
Alhambra can attribute much of their success to Bryan Leonard, who threw for 132 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Moors also got a significant boost from Halen Tsang, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 114 yards.
As for Wilson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly 19 points.
Defeat or not, Wilson got some senior leadership from Adrian Anaya and Helio Lopez. Anaya rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries, while Lopez picked up 31 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Anaya got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards.
Looking ahead, after each having a week off, Alhambra and Bell Gardens will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 2. This will be the Moors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Wilson, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-28 victory against Los Angeles on the 26th.
