South Summit is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Grantsville on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. South Summit was dealt a 71-27 loss at the hands of Grantsville. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
South Summit's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Remi Arnout, who posted seven points, and Emree Woolstenhulme, who had no points. Emilee Mcnulty also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Morgan took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 73-46 win over Union. With the Trojans ahead 47-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Morgan found their leader in freshman Zoe Rockenfield, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. Those ten assists gave Rockenfield a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Birkeland, who put up 16 points and five steals.
Morgan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.
Morgan is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for South Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: South Summit has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Morgan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
