Goose Creek Memorial moved up to 363 from 397 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region III District 24. A 36-21 win over Lee helped Goose Creek Memorial improve its standing.
Friendswood extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Santa Fe, 62-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Mustangs.
Friendswood's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jordan Wood has thrown for 367 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Michael Montalvo has five catches for 119 yards. Wood also leads the league in rushing with 914 yards.
Friendswood's Wood needs only 86 yards against Texas City next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in 4A Region III District 24 this week will be when the Stingarees take on Robert Koopmann's team. Texas City is in fourth place, while the Mustangs are in first place.
Dawson and Leland Surovik's team played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Dawson eventually emerging with a 32-29 victory.
