The Penns Manor Comets will square off against the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Penns Manor's offense. They lost 14-0 to Cambria Heights on Thursday. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Highlanders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Conemaugh Valley not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2025 (when they won 11-1). They put the hurt on River Valley with a sharp 16-6 victory. The Blue Jays haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Nate Stiffler made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyron Fields, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Joey Toth was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Conemaugh Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Valley only managed seven.
Conemaugh Valley's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Penns Manor, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
