It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Northwestern Tigers had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 57-45 win over the Tigers. Northwestern didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Northwestern was led to victory by Anna Bishir and Lexi Hale. Bishir scored 20 points along with five rebounds, while Hale dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. Hale is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Berkley Wray, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mareiona Mason, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mason has scored all season. Kaylene Kirk was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Northwestern's win bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Peru, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.
Northwestern will face off against Bellmont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bellmont will be up against Northwestern's rather soft defense (which has allowed 52 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. Peru does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
