The Gentry Rams will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Gentry, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-52 loss to Greenwood. While losing is never fun, Gentry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Greenwood is ranked 44th).
Meanwhile, Jefferson Davis County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against East Marion by a score of 74-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Gentry has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Jefferson Davis County, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
