Basketball Game Preview: Midland Classical Academy Knights vs. Lake Country Christian Eagles

Midland Classical Academy and Lake Country Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Midland Classical Academy Knights will square off against the Lake Country Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Midland Classical Academy is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Temple Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Midland Classical Academy blew Temple Christian out of the water with a 67-15 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Knights had established a 44 point advantage.

Midland Classical Academy relied on the efforts of Addie Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 boards, and Mariah Davis, who almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, nine assists, and ten steals. What's more, Dunn also racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Kaleigh Sherrill was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 12 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Country Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Trinity Christian on Tuesday as Lake Country Christian made off with a 52-32 victory. Given Lake Country Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Trinity Christian is ranked 955th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midland Classical Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 28-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Lake Country Christian, their win bumped their record up to 22-10.

Midland Classical Academy beat Lake Country Christian 49-39 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Midland Classical Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
