The Centaurus Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 55-40 to Greeley Central. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Centaurus of the 60-52 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Centaurus still got an impressive performance from Ingrid Lorton, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks. Lorton hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Lea Linossier was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Madison Sepeda was her usual excellent self, scoring 36 points along with six assists and three steals for Greeley Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sepeda has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Amaya Gamboa, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Centaurus has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Greeley Central, their win bumped their record up to 3-12.
Centaurus will be playing at home against Longmont at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Longmont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for Greeley Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Mead at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Mead's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Greeley Central has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
