John F. Kennedy Catholic's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Geneva 14-0. Considering John F. Kennedy Catholic has won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Heartland Christian and East Palestine meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Lions came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 11-7. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Evan Farrell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Farrell was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Johnny Meyer was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Jack Morgan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Heartland Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
John F. Kennedy Catholic now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Heartland Christian, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.
