Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake City). They walked away with a 52-43 victory over the Coleman Comets on Monday.
Coleman's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendall Allen, who posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave Allen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily VanSickle, who scored seven points along with 15 boards and five assists.
Lake City's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-19. As for Coleman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-18.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake City won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kalkaska at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering Lake City has lost nine straight at home and Kalkaska seven straight on the road, this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum. As for Coleman, they will host Vestaburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
