The Champaign Central Maroons won the last time they faced KIPP, and things went their way on Thursday too. Champaign Central wrapped up 2023 with a 54-35 victory over KIPP. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Champaign Central.
Leading Champaign Central to victory were Chris Bush and Luke Swanson. Bush scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks, while Swanson scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidyn Beck, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Champaign Central's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for KIPP, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Champaign Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Centralia at 7:45 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Centralia will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. KIPP is on the road again on Friday and play against Brentwood on January 5th.
