Spanish Springs is 10-0 against the Lancers since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Spanish Springs Cougars will head out on the road to take on the McQueen Lancers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Spanish Springs has four straight victories, the Lancers have three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Spanish Springs didn't have too much trouble with the Tigers at home as they won 56-38.
Spanish Springs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah McBride, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that McBride scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Washington, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, McQueen suffered a rough 79-53 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs on Friday. While losing is never fun, McQueen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Mustangs are ranked seventh).
Spanish Springs has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season. As for McQueen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.
Spanish Springs didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Lancers in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 61-55 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was McQueen's Kade Snyder, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 18 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Spanish Springs still be able to contain Snyder? There's only one way to find out.
